Nia Doilies

We are still in the heat of summer here in Seattle (over 80 degrees fahrenheit all week!), but I can't help thinking of the foggy mornings of fall. I bought this gray Lizbeth thread several months ago, and just got around to using it as it reminded me of the clouds and rain. During the past few weeks, I've been experimenting with some layered tatting, and these two doilies are the result. They start out the same, but the extra outer layer lends a different look to each. The first variation uses Josephine rings and the second variation uses rings embellished with picots. They are available as a downloadable PDF in my new pattern shop!
