This is my very first blog entry for my very first blog! I finally decided to start a blog about tatting because tatting is what I love to do. I started tatting twenty-five years ago while raising my daughters, and it has become a significant part of my life. With the help of my oldest daughter, who is a designer and photographer, I started to use Instagram to share the things I've tatted using patterns designed by other tatters. This blog will be an extension of what I've been sharing on Instagram as well as a platform for me to share the patterns that I've designed.

Since my first blog entry nearly coincides with the first day of spring and Easter, what better way to begin than by sharing my pattern for Easter eggs? I was inspired by the clovers in my yard for the simple clover motif. Please note, these patterns require some previous experience with tatting. Enjoy!

MATERIALS

1 shuttle

1 ball of Olympus thread, size 40

1 satin egg, 3.5" x 2.5"

INSTRUCTIONS

This pattern is tatted using a shuttle and a ball of thread.

Round 1: R 3—3—3—3—3—3—3—3, Ch 5. *R 3+3—3—3—3—3—3—3, Ch 5.* Repeat * * 6 more times. SLJ.

Round 2: {R 3—3—3—3—3—3, R 3+3—3—3+ (to middle p of any R on prev Round) 3—3—3—3, R 3+3—3—3—3—3, Ch 3—3—3—3—3—3—3—3}. *{R 3+3—3—3—3—3, R 3+3—3—3+3—3—3—3, R 3+3—3—3—3—3, Ch R 3—3—3—3—3—3—3—3}.* SLJ.

Round 4: Same as Round 3.

Finish: Using a needle, string 12” of thread through the middle p of each Ch. Tighten the thread and cut off the ends.
